Love: Art, Ideas, Music, Politics Book Now Available

The Love Collective has been working for the past two years on a book inspired by the two Love: Art, Ideas, Music, Politics festivals held in Minto in 2014 and Wollongong in 2017. We are delighted to announce that the Love: Art, Ideas, Music, Politics book is now available!

The book is an eclectic collection of musings on love that will inspire and challenge you to reflect on what love is. It includes essays, creative nonfiction, poetry, artworks, songs, photographs and drawings. This book invites readers on a journey to find out what love means to us today.

We are contacting you because you have expressed interest in some of our work over the years. Many of you have attended one or both of the festivals. We would love it if you could help us spread the word about the book by sharing the website for the book as widely as possible:

To order a copy, you can go straight to the orders page. The book is priced at $30 (standard) or $40 (solidarity). Shipping costs are extra.

Welcome to Love: Art, Ideas, Music, Politics

Love: Art, Ideas, Music, Politics is a gathering happening on 22 & 23 April, 2017 in Wollongong NSW. The theme of the festival is Love and will include workshops and activities which address this topic. We interpret the theme broadly and are interested in discussions that celebrate love’s power and share collectively in an exploration of its meaning. This might be a personal exploration of the way we interact with each other and the world or a discussion about how to deepen solidarity and peace, build strong communities and lessen alienation and inequality. It might be a creative workshop that explores love through movement, art or sound. Love: Art, Ideas, Music, Politics will also include musical performances and films about love.

The festival will be held at the Kum Ba Yah Girl Guide Camp located on Mount Keira, Wollongong, set in tranquil bush land in a secluded escarpment location. This unique site has both indoor accommodation and outdoor camping areas. Meeting, camping and eating together over two days will facilitate a variety of encounters among participants in a relaxed atmosphere that favours slow, compassionate and loving dialogue.
